Jazz A Audition Requirements - 2025

WIND PLAYERS, GUITAR, PIANO & BASS

• Concert Bb Major Scale routine 96 bpm

•  Concert F major Scale routine 96 bpm

• “A Little of This?” @120bpm with the backing track linked in the google drive.

  • • OPTIONAL Improvisation - if interested in playing lead:  Improvisation (make up a solo) for “A Little of This” chords with backing track. (Notes in the blues scale will work over the 12 bars)

• PIANIST & DRUMMERS:

  • • Piano players play the written head the first time through followed by the written chords.

    • Drumset:  Demonstrate basic swing pattern, shuffle, rock beat and bossa nova. If you are familiar with any other styles.

Wind Ensemble Requirements-2026-2027

Wind Players:

All Major Scales That have been covered in your current band class 

A solo selected by Mr. Ilic

Percussion:

All Major Scales that have been covered in your current band class

A short selected solo on mallets

A short selected solo on snare drum

String Orchestra Requirements-2026-2027

All Scales that have been covered in your current string class

A short solo of your choosing 30 secs. to a minute.
